District 127 continued investing in its schools this summer, completing facility improvements at Grayslake Central and Grayslake North under the district’s long-term capital plan.
Projects included resurfacing the track at Grayslake North, Central’s weight room floor, concrete improvements over both campuses, HVAC and building automation upgrades across the District, refinishing North’s gym floor, and completing the Solar 2.0 project at North.
These improvements are part of a larger approach to maintaining D127’s facilities. The district uses life-safety assessments, facility data, and input from staff and school leaders to identify and prioritize projects while balancing needs with available financial resources.
“Everything has a lifecycle,” said Dr. Abe Singh, Associate Superintendent and Chief School Business Official. “We map out and plan all of these things in advance.”
Over the past five years, D127 has invested approximately $30 million in capital improvements without issuing additional bonds, while maintaining healthy District fund balances. Energy-efficiency projects, including the District’s solar arrays, also help manage long-term operating costs so resources can remain focused on students, staff, and learning.
