Course Selection

In District 127, we consider the course selection process a fundamental aspect of our commitment to offering students the chance to explore their areas of interest and engage in authentic learning experiences. Students initiate their planning process using SchooLinks' Course Planner tool and then finalize their course selection in a meeting with their counselor. SchooLinks empowers students to visually map out their remaining high school years, encouraging future-focused thinking.

Course selection by class will occur in the following phases:

  • Current Juniors

    • Rams Block Course Selection Presentation (Oct 31 - Nov 1, 2024)

    • Course Worksheet Planner

    • Selection in SchooLinks during classes (Nov 13-14, 2024)

    • Rams Block individual meeting with counselor to finalize selections (Dec 9-10, 2024)

  • Current Sophomores

    • Rams Block Course Selection Presentation (Oct 31 - Nov 1, 2024)

    • Course Worksheet Planner

    • Selection in SchooLinks during classes (Nov 13-14, 2024)

    • Rams Block individual meeting with counselor to finalize selections (Dec 12-13, 2024)

  • Current Freshmen

    • Rams Block Course Selection Presentation (Oct 24-25, 2024)

    • Course Worksheet Planner

    • Selection in SchooLinks during classes (Nov 13-14, 2024)

    • Rams Block individual meeting with counselor to finalize selections (Jan 23-24, 2024)

During the course selection process, students will have the chance to consult their current teachers and have an individual course selection appointment with their counselor to confirm their choices. After mapping and selecting courses in SchooLinks in November, students' choices will be officially recorded in PowerSchool following their meeting with the counselor. At the end of January, students' final course selections in PowerSchool can be accessed by clicking on 'Class Registration' on the left side of the Parent/Guardian & Student PowerSchool navigation screen. Additionally, a communication will be sent home regarding the level change request window, January 27-31, 2025.
