Student Parking is reserved for junior and senior students only.
In good standing with the dean's office at the culmination of 2nd semester of the previous year.
Positive review of attendance, grades, behavior & social probation status.
All fees owed to district 127 must be paid in advance. If any fees are owed the application will be put on hold.
Parental approval is required in order for a student to register a car and drive to school.
Updated with the office of the dean at the end of the second semester of the previous year.
Positive review of attendance, grades, behavior, and social proof status.
All fees owed to District 127 must be paid in advance. If any payment is due, the application will be suspended.
Parental approval is required for a student to register a car and drive to school.
Expectations:
All automobiles must be registered in the Deans' office and display a valid parking tag. The tag must be hung from the rearview mirror - the tag must be visible from outside of the vehicle.
Parking is permitted in designated areas / student lot only.
No student may go to their car during the school day without permission.
Problems with vehicles are never an excuse for tardiness or absence.
A temporary parking pass must be obtained in the Dean's office if your car with the tag is out of service.
Drive safely. Drive in a manner that will never endanger pedestrians or cars in the parking lot and/or around school.
Menoni Rule - Students may not drive their car in the service lane between the football field and the baseball field / tennis courts.
In return for the privilege, students and parents must consent to the possibility of school officials conducting searches of vehicles, and personal effects therein, without notice.
No refunds are issued for lost or revoked tags or students transferring or withdrawing from school.
Issuance of a GCHS parking tag DOES NOT entitle students to park at Grayslake North.
Students with Drug/Alcohol violations are subject to consequences in a manner deemed consistent with D127's Extracurricular Code of Conduct (see below).
Code of Conduct
Pursuant to the importance District 127 places upon academic achievement, and the direct correlation between attendance and grades, students deemed to be struggling in either may be placed on probationary status for a period of time to be determined by school personnel. Furthermore, students struggling to adhere to District 127's Discipline Policy may also be placed on probationary status.
Consequences:
Parking privileges may be revoked for reckless driving in the vicinity of or on school property, for any violation of the Rules of the Road occurring on school property or in the immediate vicinity of the campus. Parking privileges may also be revoked for violations of any of the above expectations or for failure to maintain requirements.
Protocol for drug and/or alcohol infractions, (this would include (independent of each other): possession, sale or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on school grounds)
Any suspendable offense will be reviewed by designated school personnel to deem if the violation results in loss of parking.
First infraction: 18 week loss of parking. In the event that the school year ends prior to the conclusion of any loss of parking suspension, that suspension will continue into the following school year for so long as it was determined that this privilege was to be revoked. Students whose suspended parking privileges carry over into the following school year will not be allowed to purchase a parking permit until that student's parking privileges have been reinstated.
First offenders will have the opportunity to reduce their suspension to nine weeks. The student must complete an approved D127 youth evaluation and any subsequent recommended class and/or treatment.
A second drug and/or alcohol violation will result in loss of parking for one calendar year.
A third drug and/or alcohol violation will result in that student losing their parking privileges for the remainder of their high school career.
All fees owed to district 127 must be paid in advance. If any fees are owed the application will be put on hold.
Disclaimer / Waiver of Responsibilities:
District 127 is not responsible for damage or theft to vehicles or vehicle contents.
Cars without tags, cars improperly parked, and cars of students whose parking privileges have been revoked may be ticketed, towed at the student/owner expense and a suspension will also result.
Directions:
Applications must be approved by deans’ office before paying for tag at school bookstore.
Student must have valid driver’s license and insurance at time of purchase.
