SAT Prep

Dear Parents and Guardians of Junior Students:

On October 17, 2023, most juniors at Grayslake Central High School participated in a PSAT/NMSQT Exam. Results of the PSAT/NMSQT assessment have been posted to the College Board accounts created by your student as part of the PSAT pre-administration process. The PSAT/NMSQT is a precursor to the SAT assessment that will be administered on April 10, 2024 to all public high school students enrolled in 11th grade. This college entrance exam is free of charge to all students and the results can be used for college admission purposes.

In an effort to prepare our students for the state-mandated SAT Exam at Grayslake Central High School, we are offering an SAT Prep Program here at GCHS. The program offers classroom instruction (in-person or via Zoom) on SAT test taking strategies and content review of skills assessed by the SAT Exam.  This course, taught by GCHS instructors, provides instruction on each aspect of the SAT Exam with an opportunity to increase testing endurance and reduce test anxiety.

Details for the SAT Prep Program are as follows:

Dates:  8 Weeks of instruction from February 5, 2024 to April 5, 2024 (no classes during Spring Break)

Class Meeting Time Options:

Mondays/Wednesdays (In-person at GCHS) → 3:35 - 4:35 pm

We encourage you and your student to review the results from the PSAT/NMSQT exam via their College Board account to determine if further preparation and practice is needed. Review courses frequently help to increase scores, in part, through reducing test anxiety. While enrolling in a prep class does not guarantee higher test results, attention to reading comprehension, math skills and increasing testing endurance will often boost student confidence and scores.
