The Grayslake Central High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the annual State Leadership Conference in Springfield on April 5-6. Approximately 1,744 members, advisors, and guests attended this year’s conference, with 74 chapters from around the State of Illinois competing. Eight Grayslake students placed in the top ten for their respective competitions, including three who will move on as National Qualifiers.
Students can compete in over 75 events, spanning topics like Accounting, Cyber Security, Leadership, Finance, Investments, and Supply Chain Management. Competitions range from objective tests to role-play scenarios covering Client Service, Hospitality Management, and more. Computer skills, speaking, and interview events are also included, along with presentations on Business Ethics, Community Service, and Website Coding.

The National Leadership Conference will be held in Orlando, Florida from June 28-July 2, where Grayslake will be represented by Andrew Graham (Public Speaking), Adithi Govindarjau (Broadcast Journalism), and Mary O’Connor (Broadcast Journalism). Graham will be entering the national competition as the first-place qualifier from the state.
