homecoming week football, dance, parade

At Grayslake Central, Homecoming 2025 was a full-campus celebration driven by student energy, creativity, and connection. From door decorating contests to a jam-packed dance, Rams came together to make the week unforgettable.

Homecoming Week events sparked excitement early, window painting downtown, snow cones at lunch, and a free movie night on the football field featuring Tangled, the dance theme. “Our goal is to connect with every student,” said Jazmyne Garcia, teacher, coach, and Student Council sponsor. “We want everyone to feel part of something bigger.”

This year’s parade down Center Street was the school’s largest yet, with students, staff, and community groups like the Class of ’65 and Miss Grayslake Pageants marching alongside this year’s Grand Marshal, Chris Thieme, and Faculty Honoree Chris D’Amico.

With a blackout theme, the stands were filled with students in black, bringing high energy and school spirit throughout the Rams’ hard-fought game against Lakes.

And on Saturday night, students broke attendance records at the Homecoming Dance. In addition to music and dancing, the Student Council added giant inflatables and games, such as bags and ping-pong, ensuring something for everyone. The dance was planned by a student council of over 80 members who selected the theme, spirit days, decorations, and more.

Four students were named Homecoming Royalty this year: JaNae S., Ella B., Gabi S., and Kyle D.. A rare three-way tie for second place led to all four being honored.

For Garcia, the week was a clear reflection of the Rams' pride. “These moments are where students find joy and belonging,” she said. “It’s everything we hope high school can be.”
