Biology Honors Resources

Biology Honors commonly marks the beginning of a student's experience with science at Grayslake Central High School. On this site, we have compiled a few pre-learning and support resources to help get students excited and ready for both the content and skills that will be addressed in the course. We encourage students to engage with the resources as time allows and to check back often for new materials.

This website will be available during the summer and throughout the school year.

The Next Generation Science Standards have created a list of key life science questions that we will work to answer over the course of the school year. Read through the questions and think about what you already know about each of them from your prior experiences. Consider why an understanding of each of these questions might be important and what you are hoping to learn more about.

  • How do the structures of organisms enable life’s functions?

  • How are the characteristics from one

generation related to the previous generation?

  • How do organisms obtain and use energy

they need to live and grow?

  • How do matter and energy move through ecosystems?

  • How do organisms interact with the living and non-living

environment to obtain matter and energy?

  • How can there be so many similarities among organisms yet so many

    different plants, animals, and microorganisms?

  • How does biodiversity affect humans?
