District Assessment Days: APRIL 9 and 10, 2025
April 9 we will be testing the Juniors (Digital ACT)
April 10 we will be testing the Freshmen & Sophomores (Digital PreACT) and Juniors (Illinois Science Assessment)
Our District Assessment Days at GNHS each April include the administration of various exams required by the State of Illinois. All exams are free and mandatory, so they require no payment or advanced registration by families.
As you may know, the State of Illinois confirmed in May that the state-mandated assessment will shift from the SAT to the ACT starting this school year. While many details are still forthcoming from the state, we wanted to take steps to support our students through this transition.

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requires that all students take the state administered ACT to graduate.
Test Prep Resources:
After-School ACT Prep Program
The ACT after-school prep program begins in January. We will update here when registration is available.
Khan Academy: We highly recommend that all students take advantage of the free and personalized resources available through the Khan Academy. Students can link previous tests and get individualized practice material. In addition, the Khan Academy has hours of review videos, full-length practice tests, and numerous sample questions designed around each area of the ACT.
Schoology Resources: Our test preparation team has compiled a series of free resources available to all students. Some resources will be published on Schoology, and we offer a test prep class in the spring. If you have any trouble accessing these resources, please contact Kim Johnson at kjohnson@d127.org
Grade 9: PreACT8/9 on April 10th, 2025
Grade 10: PreACT on April 10th, 2025

8th Graders!
We will be testing incoming 8th graders (Class of 2029) on Friday, October 18th.
The Preliminary ACT 8/9 is administered each October to incoming 8th graders as one tool to help determine course placements for freshmen the following academic year.
Please contact Rachel Burnette, Testing Coordinator, with any questions.

The ACT 8/9 helps students determine what they need to work on most so that they’re ready for college when they graduate from high school—and it supports educators as they guide the way.
